Super Bowl Weekend STOP DWI Crackdown

(BINGHAMTON, NY) The upcoming Super Bowl weekend marks the first 2009 Broome County STOP-DWI Crackdown Weekend. Because of the celebratory nature of the sporting event, additional police patrols will be put in place on roadways to deter motorists from driving while intoxicated. Crackdown weekends are an effort to heighten awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving. Those who are under the influence of alcohol are reminded to call a cab or sober driver instead of getting behind the wheel.
“Whether you are rooting for the Cardinals or the Steelers, be a fan of sober driving,” said Broome County STOP DWI Coordinator James May.
May 21st – May 25th – Memorial Day STOP-DWI Crackdown – This conflicts with our annual seatbelt mobilization so we need to be cautious about too many messages.
