The STOP-DWI Holiday Classic has gained national recognition as one of the best organized and uniquely focused high school athletic events in the United States. The event invites high school teams from across the United States to participate in this outstanding tournament. Over the years this tournament has featured some outstanding teams. Teams from New York - Christ The King, Holy Cross, St. Raymonds, Rice, Boys & Girls, and Mt. Vernon, Pennsylvania's Simon Gratz, Ohio's - Villa Angela St. Joseph, Winton Woods, and Roger Bacon, Maryland's - St. John's Catholic and Friendly, Kentucky's - Shelby Valley and Franklin County, Florida's - St. Thomas Aquinas and South Miami.

The STOP-DWI Holiday Classic is more than just top caliber basketball - it's an educational experience. The STOP-DWI Holiday Classic is a project of the Broome County STOP-DWI Program that uses basketball as a tool to create a unique and exciting learning experience for youth. Through involvement in the STOP-DWI Holiday Classic high school athletes are encouraged to become leaders in the effort to deal with alcohol and substance abuse in their school and community.
